2007 Lana~Lisa Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Vineyard, Temecula ValleyGrowing SeasonThe 2007 growing season followed one of the dryest winters on record, resulting in a slightly smaller than average crop with most varietals. Bud break in early spring was followed by a midsummer heat spell which saw temperatures exceed 105° Fahrenheit with exceesive humidity for nearly two weeks sped up sugar levels on the white varietals, which were harvested in mid-to-late August. Despite several scattered thunderstorms, a mild September allowed extended “hang time” for the reds, further developing color, flavor and tannin structure and resulting in wines of tremendous aroma and flavor profiles, outstanding color and depth. WinemakingHarvested at approximately 22.6° Brix from our Estate Vineyard on September 11th, this wine was gently crushed and transferred to small stainless steel tanks, where maceration and seperation of juice and skins naturally occured over a 72 hour period. The “free-run” juice was then racked, saignee-style, meaning it was “bled” directly off the skins, where it underwent a long, cool fermentation, helping to retain the natural fruitiness of the grape. Winemaker’s Tasting NotesHarvested from our Estate Vineyard, our 2007 Lana~Lisa was crafted in a traditional saignée style, and is bursting with fresh aromas and flavors of fresh raspberries and cranberries. Suggested Food PairingsThe fresh fruitiness of our 2007 Lana~Lisa make this wine the ideal accompaniment to a wide variety of foods, including light meats and cheeses and Italian spicy dishes with tomato sauce.
